While the purpose of this site is to promote spiritual values not political ones, this article will involve political commentary as it pertains to a spiritual issue. Daniel was given a prophecy of future events. He described the next four kingdoms to dominate the Middle East. This included the Babylonian, the Aramaic, the Greek, and the Roman. He also described seventy weeks (periods of seven years), the last of which has been delayed. But at the end of that seventieth week Jesus returns in victory and in judgment. The Scripture and Jesus have given us signs, although the exact day and hour are known only to God, not even Jesus or any angels.

Two angels visited Abraham and he was told God was going to destroy Sodom for its evil. But Abraham’s nephew Lot lived in Sodom. Abraham asked if God would destroy Sodom if there were fifty righteous people there, the angels said He would not. Abraham repeated this question several times lowering the limit each time and getting the same answer. But it turned out that Lot and his family were the only righteous people in Sodom and they were told to leave immediately and not look back. As they left, Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed.

Jonah was asked to go to Nineveh and tell them God was going to destroy them for their evil ways. He didn’t want to do that, but God was persuasive, so he eventually did as God said. But the Ninevites repented, from the king on down to every citizen. They put on sackcloth and ashes in repentance. So God withheld the destruction He had planned, angering Jonah who was eager to see them all destroyed.

The United States has fallen into similar works of evil. God is being ignored and the ways He created things to be are being violated. People are living according to their own values and ridiculing those who are obedient to the Lord. God only exists in lip service for a majority of the population. Even some Christian churches and leaders have fallen into believing the Satanic “woke” philosophy being promoted today. On the other hand, there are many more than fifty people who are faithful to Him in the United States. So which will the United States be like, Sodom or Nineveh?

Jesus said that before he returns there will be wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes, and famines. The world will be against those who follow Him and they will be persecuted, imprisoned, and killed, but the end will not come yet. Just before He comes, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the heavens. I don’t understand that last part about the stars, but the first part sounds exactly like a solar eclipse. So I checked when there will be a solar eclipse visible in the area of Jerusalem. There will be one in 2027 and another March 20, 2034. The latter is ten years away. If the next three years see a continued deterioration of world conditions such that the antichrist assumes power and makes a “peace” with Israel only for it to backfire after 3 ½ years, leading to 3 ½ years of Satan’s onslaught against God’s people, then Jesus could very well return at the time of the March 20, 2034 eclipse. Dale Black believes the antichrist is alive and well at this time and gathering his power. Could that be Obama, Biden, Newsom, or Trudeau? In any case, it appears to me that three years could be enough for this to happen and the conditions of the world especially the United States are already ripe for it.

If these observations are correct, we have ten years before Jesus’ returns. How are you going to spend these next ten years? Are you ready to have the patient endurance and faithfulness Revelation says we will need? Do you have some unfinished work for the Lord? We don’t know the day or hour, but we have been given the signs to watch for. Is next week’s eclipse one of the signs foretelling the soon return of Jesus? Interestingly to me March 20, 2034, is almost exactly 2000 years since Jesus’ death and resurrection. I cannot find any mention of two thousand years in Scripture. Will the people of the United States repent like the citizens of Nineveh or be destroyed like the people of Sodom? Lets pray for the former and do all we can, but be prepared for the latter.

May God bless you and be with you as we move into the last days.
