Post #89: The Universal Experience of Heaven

When we put together all fifty eyewitness testimonies of heaven contained in Heaven Is Beyond Imagination, we get a very good idea of the universal experience of heaven. First of all, the moment you die and your spirit leaves your body, you will feel more alive than you ever have. Your senses will be sharper, seeing better, hearing better, smelling better, etc. All illnesses, discomforts, or handicaps will be gone and you will be restored to what you were at your prime of life. This has been everyone’s first experience after death. (If you have denied God and kept Him out of your life, you take all your infirmities with you, but since we are talking about one’s heaven experience, we will not say anything further about this alternative.)

The second thing is your movement toward heaven will not be of your choosing. You will travel one way or another to your destination, some through a tunnel-like means or a beam of light, some in clouds, some in the company of angels or other people, or some just suddenly being in heaven. Once you get there you will be wearing a white robe according to most, but a few find themselves in clothes similar to the ones they wore in life. Whatever it is, it is miraculously given to you and put on you without any awareness of it yourself. Remember the clothes you were wearing when you died stayed with your body.

The most important thing is what you will feel. That will be an overwhelming sense of peace, wholeness, acceptance, love, and joy. All of this far beyond anything you have experienced on Earth. It is the one thing that makes people want to stay there. As one person, an atheist up until his last few seconds of life, said what he experienced was what he had been looking for all his life in all the wrong places. Most people do stay, but we only have reports from those who came back either because they had family needing them, or their work on Earth was not finished, or Jesus wanted them back here.

The next major experience of heaven is the magnificent beauty and perfection of everything, the flowers, the trees, the fruit, the waters, the buildings and mansions, and especially the music. There is constant music of praise for all that the Father has done for us. It is sung by angel choirs or choirs of people and angels; it may be played by the finest musical instruments. Also it is emitted by everything: flowers, trees, walls, and waters. It is constant and comes from everything. It is also in every Earth language and you will understand the words regardless of the language. You also will be able to participate in singing regardless of the musical talent you had on Earth or the lack of it.

The colors are more vibrant in heaven and there are more colors than we have on Earth. The color is inherent in the objects, not in reflected light like it is here. Heaven is lighted by God’s glory that comes out of everything. There is no sun or moon, and as a result, there are no shadows. And there is no night nor any need to sleep. Your spiritual body does not need rest or nourishment.

But the fundamental experience of heaven is that it is all about Jesus and His Father and how much they love us. Without Jesus it is not heaven. Since God does not force anyone to accept His love and our place in His kingdom, we can freely choose to accept Him or reject Him. The universal experience of heaven does not include the Universalist view that all paths lead to heaven. Instead all of heaven celebrates what Jesus did to enable us to be there. That is more love than we can comprehend but that is the universal experience of heaven
