I have been rereading My Time In Heaven: A True Story of Dying…and Coming Back by Richard Sigmund. It is one of the earliest books I read, and I consider it the most thorough of all 56. Richard was dead for eight hours following an unexplained single car accident. He came back to physical life while he was being wheeled into the morgue. Eight hours of earth time doesn’t equate to any amount of time in heaven; nevertheless, his whole book is about his experience in heaven while most others talk about how they came to be in heaven and how they coped after returning to this world. As a result, Richard tells more about heaven than any of the others. In fact, he covers most of the details I have presented in Heaven Is Beyond Imagination. I highly recommend it for further study of what heaven is like. I have described much of what Richard said, but seeing it in his own words would be instructive.
Here are some quotes:
“There is no death in heaven. Not even for a blade of grass. Death is impossible there because heaven is a place of eternal life. Heaven is a place where the life of God sustains everything.” (pg 22)
“There were flowers of every imaginable size and color along the path. There were banks and banks of flowers. Some were the size of a dinner table.” (pg 22)
“As I walked along the golden pathway, I noticed the sky. It was rosette-pinkish in color, but it was also a crystal clear blue. And there were clouds in the sky¾clouds of glory. When I looked more closely at them, I saw that the ‘clouds’ were actually thousands of angels and thousands upon thousands of people walking in groups and singing. They were strolling the sky.” (pg 23)
“All the people [on the solid gold park benches] there were in preparation of loved ones coming to heaven. I heard someone say, ‘When he sees his mansion he is going to shout glory.’” (pg 23)
“Through the gate along my pathway were many beautiful houses¾mansions. They had many verandas on the second, third, and even fourth floors. People would casually stroll off the edges of their verandas and effortlessly float to the ground. Or they would stay in the air. It seemed they could do either. The laws of physics don’t seem to apply in heaven.” (pg 27) So what do you think about your mansion there? Do you think it is ready for you now? Can you imagine it? I bet it will surprise you beyond your best imagination.
“When I touched the fruit to my lips, it evaporated and melted into the most delicious thing I have ever tasted. It was like honey, peach juice, and pear juice. It was sweet but not sugary.” (pg 24)
“Every now and then, as I traveled down the pathway I would get a glimpse of Jesus just a little way ahead. He was talking with people, loving them, hugging them. They were looking at Him with such expressions of adoration and worship that I wanted to be there just to fall at His feet. …
In heaven, everybody has a turn to see Jesus directly, and therefore nobody is anxious about it. They are excited about the thought of seeing Him, but they are respectful of other people’s turns to meet with Him; nobody has to crowd ahead of anyone else. …
Yet this was the remarkable thing: Though I could see Jesus ahead of me, I could not say that He was not also right behind me. He moved at what seemed to be the speed of light. There was only one of Him, but Jesus seemed to be everywhere at the same time.” (pg 29) I think it was more than the speed of light, it was instantaneous because heaven has more than one dimension of time and therefore He could be at different places at the same time in different dimensions of time.
“In heaven these babies [he saw] had the power of speech and were completely responsive. They knew and understood what you were saying to them and could reply. It was a most amazing thing to see.” (pg 33)
Richard has much to say in his chapter about children. They were having lots of fun and were learning things in their school “that geniuses on Earth could not possibly know or understand.” Here is one example of the children having fun: “I saw children playing what looked like hide and seek. One would run and hide and the other children would find him or her¾and then start the game all over. It was such a beautiful sight.” (pg35)
“God keeps records, and this large building was the Archives of Heaven.
“The Archives of Heaven contains the different books about our lives, and these are the books that are taken to God when the judgment time comes. The books are the records of our works here on Earth. If a person sins, it is recorded in the books.
“I was given the understanding that when we repent, anything that we have done that was wrong or sinful in nature and that was recorded in the books is erased for eternity. No one can find the record, not even God.” (pg 50-51) One of the other eyewitnesses saw this erasing process take place for one individual who had just repented and accepted Jesus.
There is much more I could say, but this is all I can take time for now. Most of what he said has been recorded in Heaven Is Beyond Imagination, so get it and read it for a more thorough understanding of what God has prepared for us. Richard is just one of the eyewitness authors described in Heaven Is Beyond Imagination. He just happens to have experienced the most and told us about it.
