In Matthew 6:25-33, Jesus told his disciples when He went up the mountain from the large crowd that followed Him, “not [to] worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?” He pointed out God feeds the birds and clothes the grass with beautiful flowers. He will certainly take care of you. George Mueller in his journal on March 17, 1842 wrote, “How should our Father do otherwise [than provide us daily with what we need]? He that has given us the greatest proof of His love which He could have done, in giving us His own Son, surely He will with Him freely give us all things.” (As quoted in Answers to Prayer, compiled by A.E.C. Brooks, Chicago: Moody Press, p25) George Mueller demonstrated this when he never once asked anyone for anything in support of the orphanage he established in England. He took every need to God in prayer and trusted Him to provide, and He always did. George never once failed to give the children food, clothing, and whatever else they needed nor did he ever not pay bills when they were due. God proved He is trustworthy for meeting all our needs as Jesus told us.
God has also confirmed both His desire and His ability to provide for us in what He has prepared for our eternity with Him. We can see this through the eyewitness testimonies of Heaven. First of all, there is no money in heaven. But everyone has work to do in keeping with the gifts and talents you had on Earth. But we will not work to earn a living, we will perform what work we do out of joy for the LORD and love for our brothers and sisters, who will be blessed by what we do for them. We will not have to be concerned about what we will eat. As one author said, we will be provided with food for an elegant feast without labor or care. (Heaven Is Beyond Imagination, p68) The fruit on the trees by the River of Life is delicious and varied, some will be like fruit we know, and others will be new varieties. One person even identified things like dainty finger rolls and frozen cream growing on the trees. (loc. cit.) Since no animal dies in heaven we will not have chicken or steak, but we have been assured we will have equivalent food prepared out of the light of God’s glory that will far exceed the best steak here. (op. cit., p69) All of this is provided without cost or labor on our part; it is freely given out of God’s love for us. Also, since we will have no internal organs, eating is optional. Whatever we eat apparently just evaporates in us and disappears. (op. cit. p36)
As you know, when someone dies the clothes stay with the body. The spirit leaves the body naked, so to speak. But in heaven, we all have clothing from the moment we are there, provided freely without any effort on our part. We will have varieties of clothing, different robes for different occasions and some clothing like what we are used to here. Whatever clothing we need is freely given without cost or effort. (op. cit., p39-41)
What God has shown us through these witnesses is that in heaven we will be provided with all the food and clothing we desire; it will all be better than the counterparts we have here; and it will all be given to us without cost. Since He has shown us He will do all of that for us there, He can certainly do that here in this Creation, too. Just as He has also provided useful satisfying work, enjoyable recreation, beautiful scenery, health and wholeness, joy and peace, and wonderful companionship with everyone else there, so He can provide all that here for us also as we have need if we just follow Him and trust Him. So let’s focus on our relationships with Him and with others. That is what really counts and endures. The food and clothing we have will all be left here, and better food and clothing will be provided in heaven. But we will take the relationships with us to heaven when we die. Be more concerned about cultivating Godly relationships and getting to know and love your Creator while you are here in the body.
