The following are excerpts from the chapter “Meeting Jesus,” the longest chapter of my book telling what different eyewitnesses experienced when they met Jesus in heaven.
Willie Agnes Chennault: He was about six feet tall. His eyes were like a watery blue ocean. His skin was gray and pink mixed. His hair was thick and bushy, the color of dark chocolate brown, was combed back from his face, and came down to his shoulders. He had a beard. He wore an eggshell color fine linen robe and dark brown sandals with straps on his feet. His legs were straight and hairy.
Steven Musick perceived Jesus as a young man of about 35. He was clearly a male person and not a shadowy figure, figment of imagination, or floating being, but a real person. He had shoulder length dark brown hair, dark hazel soothing reassuring eyes, and a muscular and stocky build. He has strong powerful angular features, but his “mannerisms and movements are the epitome of gentleness.” He glows with the light about his countenance. His hands are large, strong, supple, and powerful. He was wearing a white robe with sleeves that fell to His mid forearm, and there was a white rope tied around His waist. He had simple brown sandals on His feet. He had a soothing melodic conversational tenor voice.
Dawn Cypret says when you meet Him you know it is Him without anyone introducing you. There was instant recognition when their eyes met, making a soul connection. She said He is just over six feet in height, has a medium build, and his light brown hair comes to his shoulders. He has a soft beard. She said His eyes are green, not brown as you would expect, but it is an unusual shade of green. She could see them sparkle with love and humor. He was wearing a white tunic and sandals. She said she has never been with anyone who smiles as easily and as often as Jesus does.
Dean Braxton: Jesus’ eyes were like flames of fire, just like John said in Revelation 1:14. There were many colors in his eyes that were changing constantly. His eyes were deep, full of life, and had love for each person who looked at Him. He saw love for himself in Jesus’ eyes, but, as Dean thought of someone else, he saw love for that person in Jesus’ eyes. He saw in Jesus’ eyes that He wants everyone alive on Earth to be with Him in heaven. He does not want to lose even one person to hell. As Dean saw the love in Jesus’ eyes, he became that love and knew we become that love in order to love others with His love.
James Woodford: Seeing Jesus’ face was the highlight of Jim’s trip to heaven. He was ruggedly handsome but nevertheless human. His hair was brown and curled just over the collar of His robe. Jesus smiled at him with a most radiant, beautiful, loving smile. It was beautiful, and Jim felt the warmth of the smile flowing through him. The smile exhibited unconditional love even though Jesus knew everything about him, including all his rebellion and waywardness. The most striking aspect of Jesus’ face was His eyes. They flashed blue, gold, and green, and were filled with relentless love for Jim. Even though Jim had squandered his life ignoring Jesus and never giving Him any attention or respect, in His eyes was sadness and sorrow for those who had never acknowledged Him and had spent their lives apart from Him, but His love and acceptance of Jim (and all of us wayward children) was so great it brought Jim to tears. The love was so strong that it still gives him tears years later.
After He finished reading the little book of James’ life, which had very few entries of his kindnesses or love, he said, “James,” and held out His hand to him palm up. Jim tried to move but couldn’t, he was frozen in awe. Jim then saw the radiant light from His garment shine out through a hole in his wrist, the wound from when Jesus took the nail to the cross to pay for all Jim’s sin and waywardness. He was filled with an overwhelming sense of profound sadness, guilt and shame. It was so personal an experience that Jim could almost feel himself hammering the nail into Jesus’ wrist. But Jesus just looked at him with compassion and love!
Mary Neal: He looks like endless kindness and compassion, which is natural in the kingdom of heaven in ways we cannot comprehend here. She said He was endlessly patient, endlessly gentle, and mesmerizing. He was light of spirit and had a sense of humor.
Crystal McVea: When she saw and recognized Jesus, she immediately confessed Him as Lord and worshiped Him with all she had. Unlike in church on occasions when she was glad for it to be over, there she was completely surrendered to His greatness and had an overpowering desire to worship Him forever. She had an immensity and intensity of love that she had not known before, and that is what drove her desire to worship and praise God. She experienced a beautiful new way of sending and receiving love. She was infused by God’s brightness and love.
Betty Eadie felt the most unconditional love she had ever felt. She went to Him as she saw His arms open to receive her. She received His complete embrace and said over and over, “I’m home. I’m home. I’m finally home.”
Ian McCormack: When Ian McCormack, an atheist until the last minute of his life, came into Jesus’ presence, he wanted to turn away because he realized he didn’t deserve to be there. He understood that Jesus knew his name, knew all his thoughts, and could see everything he had ever done. He wanted to hide or go back down the tunnel. But wave after wave of pure light and love started flooding over him, love that was pure, unadulterated, clean, uninhibited, and undeserved. It was filling him up from the inside out making his hands and body tingle. He began to weep uncontrollably as the love became stronger and stronger. Everything he thought was love on Earth was nothing compared to the love he was feeling. He didn’t see how God could love him after all the sins he had committed. As God’s love poured over him with each thought of his sins, he stood there weeping in God’s presence. He learned his forgiveness was assured when he asked for forgiveness seconds before he died.
Richard Sigmund said that while everything in heaven is beautiful, it all pales in comparison with just the sight of Jesus and His wonderful face. When Jesus was a few feet in front of him, he noticed the holes in Jesus’ feet where the nails had been. A beautiful light shone through them from the inside. Jesus touched him and helped him stand. Jesus told him to look at Him and said, “I love you. Even though you have been disobedient and haven’t done what I have told you to do, I still love you, and I desire for you to tell My people about this place called heaven. I desire for you to tell My people the glorious things My Father has made for them, that they might want to come here. I have chosen you and ordained you for this one work … Tell My people I am coming soon. I love them.” Then Richard saw His hands with the nail scars. They were open and a beautiful light was shining through. He also saw that his name was carved in Jesus’ hands.
Howard Storm: In Jesus presence he experienced a love of greater intensity than he had ever known, an intensity greater than all human love put together. He knew this person of blinding glory loved him with overwhelming power and also completely knew him and accepted him. He cried and cried tears of joy as Jesus held him and filled him with love.
If these testimonies inspire you to want to be with Jesus and be filled with His love, let that motivate you to complete the mission He has given you for this life. That love can show through you now before you get to met Him face to face forever and enable you to bless many around you who need to see His love for them.
