The common image about the throne and God is that of an old man with a long beard and long hair sitting on an elegant chair or throne. But that is not the case; it is far more complex than that. Dean Braxton said the throne is God, and God is the throne. He perceived that God was in the midst of the throne and connected to the throne. Where He was, the throne was. Dean says the throne and God are an integral whole and can never be separated. We don’t have Earthly concepts sufficient to express what Dean Braxton saw.
He further said God had colors coming off Him, more colors than can be described, and they were alive. Everything that comes from God the Father is alive. Mary K. Baxter also described the colors saying the glory of God overshadowed the throne with thunder and lightning and a rainbow of color all around it. Dr. Gary Wood also said around the throne were rainbows of more colors than the rainbows on Earth. He also observed thunder and lightning, but it was not scary.
Michael McCormack said, “The throne had sparkling lights and golden pillars and paintings [similar to ones] seen in old churches.” He said there were three thrones joined together as one. They were golden and had lots of jewels of all colors on them. There were emeralds, rubies, blue sapphires, yellow stones, and purple stones. Dean Braxton said it appeared as a cloud and was bright.
Two people described the throne building as oval or round and huge, several hundred miles wide with a domed roof hundreds of miles high. It is the biggest building in heaven and can be seen from all over heaven.
Richard Sigmund described many huge columns and broad stairs with thousands of steps leading up to the throne. Others mentioned the stairs also. He said each step was symbolic and prophetic. He saw hundreds of thousands or millions of people going into and coming out from the throne worshiping and praising God as he went up the stairway. He heard one person say that God is more than he ever thought. He heard someone else say he really wants to go back to the throne.
Richard noticed an area with three levels of railings closer to the throne, beyond which humans are not allowed. The railings are made of gold and some other kind of material that radiates the glory of God. Angels stood at the railings.
In the area surrounding the railings were living stones shaped like potatoes that were on fire. They gave off blue and amber Shekinah glory. They looked like they were coals from the altar of God, and there was a name on each one of them. Richard’s name was on one of these coals before the altar of God. When he got to the throne, he understood that everything in heaven flows into and out of the throne.
Dr. Gary Wood said at the throne there were seven golden lamps having the fire of the Holy Spirit. He saw the awesome crystal-clear River of Life flowing from the throne. He saw the twenty-four elders with their golden crowns around the throne. He saw angels carrying golden bowls of liquid, which were placed at the base of the throne. The angel told him these are the tears of the saints on Earth. He also saw angels carrying golden vials of a vapor-like substance. He was told these are the praises of the saints and are a sweet-smelling incense to God.
But more than all this awesome size and beauty, what stood out was how much the Father loves us, each and every one individually. Every time we breathe, that breath of air is God saying, “I love you!” In God’s eyes, everyone is number one, and that is what radiated from the throne and was the most rewarding experience of the throne. Matthew Payne had listened to and sung, “I could sing of your love forever; I could sing of your love forever.” Then at the throne Jesus sang it to him, he was deeply touched that Jesus would sing of His love for him even though he had a sin addiction that was continuing in his life. Jesus sang, “Over the mountains and the sea, your river runs with love for me, …” and then the chorus, “I could sing of your love forever.” He was in tears that Jesus would sing this song about him even with his addiction still in place. (Later he was freed from this addiction, but not at the time he had this experience.)
He saw God as a ball of light, while Jesus is God in the image of man. No one could describe what God looks like. All they could say is He and the throne are one or He is in a cloud or He is a ball of light or He is some other awesome expression of love, joy, peace, and power. We need to remember what Jesus told Philip, “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.” Seeing Jesus is how we see God.
