God has equipped each of us with certain gifts, talents, and capabilities to accomplish certain things in our lives for Him. These gifts are part of our very nature and do not end when we die. Whatever work anyone does is based on that person’s gifts and will be done to serve Him to His glory and to be a blessing to others. The work we do in heaven will be natural for us and will be a pleasure. Money is not needed there because everything is free. Several eyewitnesses to heaven said even though as visitors they were not assigned any work, everyone they saw was very busy and very happy with the work he or she was doing. God provides everything we need, and we have the joy and blessing of being able to participate in God’s providing for others. Here are some of the testimonies from the fifty-eight books I consulted for Heaven Is Beyond Imagination.
Colton Burpo said Jesus gave him homework to do and it was enjoyable. Richard Sigmund saw other children studying things it would take geniuses on Earth to follow although he was not allowed to see exactly what they were studying. We also will be learning things there.
Richard Sigmund saw women who were telling fabric what to do to make a garment. There was no sewing involved, the fabric just came together under the seamstress’s direction. He saw the same thing with a woman who was weaving a tapestry. She just told the yarn what to do and it formed itself into the tapestry. He also saw a boy telling his paintbrush what color to be and what texture to create the tree he envisioned in his painting. Then he swiped the brush across his painting and the tree he had envisioned appeared.
Some saw people and angels at work building different people’s residences. All the materials fit together perfectly and there was no need for nails, screws, or mortar.
Mathew Payne saw a person named Rahab that had three restaurants where she cooks meals for guests. He saw his sister there who as a ballerina was giving performances and lessons. Another sister has a five-story gallery exhibiting her paintings.
Kat Kerr saw the mansion being prepared for a woman who will be coming soon. She liked to cook and her mansion has a dining room on the top floor seating sixty people and her kitchen is equipped with all the gadgets, equipment, and appliances she will need to prepare fabulous dinners. She also saw the mansion of a lady who loved to teach music. Her mansion has a grand piano and many other pianos so she can teach music.
Some saw conveyances for transporting groups of people over land, across water, or through the air. One person suggested someone who liked to build conveyances had made them.
Some people who liked to preach or teach were seen doing just that in heaven. One person listened to teaching by Martin Luther and then John Wesley. Another saw a former evangelist who was preaching.
Mary K. Baxter said we will be happily occupied working in service to God. She couldn’t say what that service will be, but from others we can tell it will be in keeping with the gifts and talents He gave us from the beginning. She did say that we will not be idle and will enjoy the work we do. The work will be stimulating and exhilarating. It will fulfill some useful purpose in heaven and will glorify God. Some of the work will be of kinds no one has experienced on Earth. The work is always done thoroughly and excellently. Nothing is ever done poorly nor with mediocrity. Everything is always the highest quality in glory to God. After all, God spared nothing to create heaven as a perfect place. He paid the perfect price for us to be there. How could we do anything less than perfect out of respect for Him?
